When I visited the Trent Valley Quilters Guild, except for having seen posts on the Community Centre and Arena Calendar, I had not heard of them. My expectations were of meeting a handful of people talking about quilting and working on quilts. Was I ever wrong!
The Guild was started in the fall of 1989 at a home in Trenton. In 2014 they celebrated their 25th anniversary and in January 2015 moved their group to the Community Centre in Brighton. They have a library of quilting books for members to borrow. The social committee organizes the coffee and treats every month, while the workshops committee organizes workshops, etc. Like most groups of this size they depend on numerous dedicated volunteers to keep up the excellence of the group.
There will be a Quilt Show titled The Fabric of Our Lives on June 6 and 7 in the Community Centre. Hundreds of quilts will be on display; there will be a Tea Room and quilt appraisals, demonstrations and much more. http://www.trentvalleyquiltersguild.com/index.html
New members will be accepted starting in late summer 2015, until the ceiling of 160 members is reached again; information at the website and at the show.
