Judy Coates husband Paul and daughter Janet can still be seen at their roadside outlet on Hwy #30 just before the 401 providing local produce, fresh baking and preserves. When they run out or the crop is low other local farmers help stock the stand or step up to supply. Likewise the Coates reciprocate. As Janet states it’s “Farmers helping farmers”.

Judy makes 50 different jams all with local produce. Some are rather rare berries or mixtures. She is often asked for her family apple cake recipe...but ‘it ain’t going nowhere’.
For as long as Coates have been producing, about 48 years, there have been fresh local home grown homemade products year round in Brighton.
