Local art displays over the years in Brighton have taken many arenas. It is a great community where art, especially local talent, is part of the lifestyle. Music, performing arts, visual arts and literary arts appear regularly during the year in the municipality from Brighton Public Library to the Gazebo, to the Community Centre, Legion, The Gates, Memorial Park, King Edward Park, ENSS, Codrington Community Centre, our churches, local retailers, restaurants, almost everywhere including right on MAIN STREET. Brighton Art Council and DBIA have presented in partnership and individually. In fact partnerships in the arts have included our service clubs and commerce, even to the recognition of a designated month to the arts and special days each year --- not to forget our festivals like Applefest.
Memorial Park has been full many times with visual arts while performing artists play the gazebo. We have become quite well renowned for book launches by local authors and international authors who reside in our area. One year Presqu’ile Provincial Park placed the historical Speedy replica at the end of Main Street for the day, wood carvers and painters demonstrated in the middle of the street while live rabbits and puppets mingled in the park. Crowds later danced on Main Street well into the night.
In July Artists will again be part of local celebrations and events.
On July 11th Art on Main presented by DBIA is a wonderful new initiative to engage citizens and tourists in the arts.
On July 18th the BAC will be at Memorial Park with Music and Art as part of the Presqu’ile Lighthouse celebrations.
Brighton is truly alive with the arts.
